Little Scholars of China is a brand new cultural quiz show which selects the best 108 students in a 360 degree galaxy-styled studio, to compete for the position of the ‘7 top star’ positions, ultimately to be crowned the best little scholar of China!

The programme premiered to great ratings on Thursday evenings at primetime slot at Shandong TV. According to the statistics released by CSM Media Research, China’s leading TV ratings data provider, several episodes of the programme achieved top 3 in CSM 52 Cities Ratings. Meanwhile, the programme triggered avid discussions on Chinese social media. The Weibo posts on Little Scholars of China was viewed over 820 million times. One of the programme clips received over 100 million views online.

The programme won The Most Innovative Programme of the Year 2017 at SAPPRFT and was also nominated for the Starlight Awards 2017 - SAPPRFT’s bi-annual national award for TV, literature and arts in China.

These ordinary citizens will be invited to the studio and experience a unique performance, especially created for them. It is a warm and touching format with real life stories that struck a chord in the hearts of the public.

The show premiered on CCTV in August 2018 and immediately received rave reviews. Many viewers regarded it as “a heart touching programme that has not been seen in many years”. The show was watched by over 200 million viewers.

The programme was premiered on CCTV in February 2017 and became an instant hit. Three days after its debut, The Readers obtained a rating of 9.2 out of 10 on Douban, a popular Chinese entertainment review site. Internet users hailed it as “a breath of fresh air” amongst the nation’s variety shows – a refreshing change from the usual dance and singing shows that dominate primetime TV slots. The show was given Best Seasonal Variety Programme Award at the 23rd Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards and Programme of the Year Award at the 2017 Summit Award Ceremony.

The show was re-commissioned for season 2 in 2018 and received top ratings in China again.

Four Chinese fashion brands then fight it out by placing the highest bids for these designs.

The first episode premiered on the Saturday evening primetime slot on 23rd August 2014 at 9.15pm on Dragon TV (SMG) and achieved top rating amongst all national channels across China. It was also a phenomenal commercial success for the four Chinese fashion brands with the designs selling out within minutes.

3 seasons were commissioned and aired, with each season generating 1 billion clicks on digital “shake-and-buy” platform. The commercial potential of this programme is valued at £400 million by local press.

In 2012, the show was awarded Best Entertainment Programme of the Year by CCTV and Most Innovative TV Programme of the Year by SARFT (The State Administration of Radio, Film & Television). SARFT senior official Mr Delong Jin called Dream Choirs "the best entertainment TV programme CCTV has produced in recent years". It has also received positive comments from online communities and national press.

Season 1
Premiered on CCTV-1 primetime in November 2011, Dream Choirs was the first international format CCTV acquired from Shine Group. The show has become a major success in China with the premier night generating more than 30 million viewers. In 2011, it was positioned to be CCTV's annual TV event of the year. The title sponsor was Oil of Olay, putting in a record-breaking £13 million for the first season. The first season consisted of 11 episodes of 60-90 minutes.

Season 2
Following the success of Season 1, Dream Choirs was recommissioned for a second season in November 2012 with a much bigger production and an increased budget. The second season consisted of 11 episodes of 60-90 minutes.
